This week I have focused mostly on my Wellness TV package. On Monday I attended the Wellness TV meeting from 4:30 until 5 p.m. We mostly discussed the status of our packages. On Tuesday, I shot broll and a student interview from 9 until 10 a.m. I then log a transferred the footage from 10 until 10:30 a.m. On Wednesday, I wrote the script for my package from 10:40 a.m. until 11:50 a.m. It didn't need any corrections and I was SO happy!! Today, I shot additional broll from 1:20 until 2:00 p.m., edited from 2:00 until 3:00 p.m., and then shot my reporter stand up with John from 3:00 until 3:30 p.m. and inserted it into the package. I had no practicum students once again, so John was nice enough to help out! I am very excited about this package and to end this semester with Wellness TV strong!

Wellness TV Show 11
Today I log and captured my interview with Mrs. Coso from 10:50 until 11:20. The video is a little bit shaky, but not really enough to notice, much to my relief! I also may need to raise the volume a little bit when I start editing the package together. Other than that though, everything looks good. I am going to shoot student interviews later this week and get some broll too!

Last Wellness TV Show
On Monday I attended the Wellness TV meeting from 4:30 until 5 p.m. We discussed the last show for the year and assigned packages. I'm doing a show about summer jobs. On Thursday, I interviewed Mrs. Coso in the Career Center from 2:30 until 3:30 p.m.. The interview went well, accept that the camera had a shoe on it that didn't go with the tripod I had, and I couldn't get it off! I had to balance the camera on the tripod during the interview. I'm hoping the video is not too shaky. Before I went to the second shoot, Dakota came by to see if she could figure it out. She snapped it right off with one twist of her wrist, of course. My sorority has asked me to shoot their recruitment video this year, since Bivens is graduating. Yesterday I interviewed four girls around various places on campus. My Final cut freestyle isn't working.. so I have to us imovie, which is hugely frustrating. I worked yesterday from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m., and then edited from 10:30 p.m. until 11:30 p.m.

Wellness TV and Other Stories
Yesterday I helped Dakota with some of her projects. First, I worked this sound during her studio shoot for some people talking about FERPA. We worked from 1 until 2 p.m. The lady did a really good job, but she got in a tiff with the other lady about whether or not the video should have scrolling words on it. It was interesting to watch. Then I helped Dakota shoot some interview for her friends' business project from 2 until 3 p.m. We just used a regular point and shoot digital camera. This morning, Taylor Sullivan and I edited fitness with Sarah from 9 until 10 a.m. This was a great chance for me to sit down with Taylor and talk about basic editing, like setting in and out points and how to move the clips onto the timeline. She also learned how to insert video transitions, such as cross dissolve and page peel, and how to put video over a sound byte.

Lakeland Women's Club 100th Birthday
Yesterday I shot the Lakeland Women's Club's 100th Birthday with Kirsten from 2:00 until 4:30 p.m. Many very important people were there, including the mayor of Lakeland. There was also lots of entertainment from South Eastern University and FSC. During our interview with the President of the club, I learned that she was a FSC alum, and an Alpha Chi Omega. She had lots of positive things to say about our school, and greek life. The ladies were all very kind, and graciously allowed me to sample their finger foods because I was starving. Overall, I had a good time. I didn't feel stressed about trying to get enough of the right sequence patterns or any of that, I just shot the way I wanted to. It was strangely relaxing, and I felt important to be at my first "big girl" job!

Wellness TV Mini-Pack: Done!
Yesterday, I went to the Wellness TV meeting from 4:30 until 5:30 p.m. We talked about next week show, and future packages. I will be doing a package on scholarships for college students. Then, Dakota and Nya helped me shoot my stand up for my mini pack about losing your wallet. We worked from 5:30 until 6:10. It took a really long time because we had a lot of trouble with the teleprompter and ended up using sheets for me to read off of. Today I edited the footage from 11:00-11:30. Dakota changing the sheets of paper as I read created a shadow on the screen, so I had to stretch it out and to me it looked kind of blurry. But Michelle in all of her magic could probably fix it.

Wellness TV
Yesterday I worked on Wellness TV from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. I wrote the script for our PSA. Then today, Taylor Sullivan and I were going to shoot the PSA outside of the Safety Office, but we discovered that the mic battery had gone dead. I am going to give the camera to Michelle today so that it can be fixed, and reschedule the shoot for Monday after 3 p.m.

Show 8: Done!
Yesterday, I wrote the broadcast script and cut out sound bytes for my package from 1:10 until 2:30 p.m. Today I edited my entire package from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. I am much happier with this package than I was with my last package, and I am very proud of my work! I know now that is much better to shoot all of your video early, rather than trying to do it all at the last second.

Show 8 Student Interviews
Today I worked for Wellness TV from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Taylor Sullivan worked with me. Kristin McKay told Taylor that she would come, but she never showed up. We shot two student interviews in the caf, as well as a reporter stand up in front of Edge. Taylor had to go to class at 9:55, but I let her set up the log and transfer before she had to go. During the interviews we switched our usual places: Taylor manned the camera and I asked the interview questions. All of our footage has been shot, we just need to shoot voice overs, write the script, and edit!

Show 8 Interview
On Friday, I interviewed Brenna Haley from the Study Abroad office for Wellness TV. The interview went well and Brenna was able to answer all of our questions. Taylor Sullivan went with me. We also shot some broll of the flyers, posters and maps in the office. We worked from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. I left the camera with her over the weekend while I was out of town, and while the camera was with her she shot some broll all on her own. I would like to do some student interviews tomorrow after the Wellness TV meeting, and then be ready to write my script and have it all done and edited by Thursday.

Wellness TV Meeting: Show 8
On Monday I attended the Wellness TV meeting from 4:30 until 5:00 p.m. I will be doing a package on the junior journey, which I'm kind of excited for. The topic is something that I really can wrap my head around, while credit scores still kind of confuse me. With this topic I can really be an informative reporter! I have already email Ms. Baine and am looking forward to hearing back from her!

ABC Action News and Finishing Show 7
On Thursday, I had the opportunity to shadow Lind Hurtado at ABC Action News. Maggie Ross went with me too. We were given a tour of the entire studio. She showed us where the reporters received their assignments for the day, all of the different control rooms including the main control room with the switcher, and of course the actual studio. During the news cast, little Maggie and I both got a chance to direct the meteorologist. The floor manager showed us the different hand signals for 1 minute, 30 seconds and 15 seconds. We each took turns during the separate weather forecasts in front of the green screen standing by the camera. We were instructed to watch the teleprompter instead of his face so as not to distract him. When the floor manager told us to, we gave the meteorologist the cues right above the camera so he could see them. This let him know how much time he had left to complete the newscast. It was an awesome experience and I am so grateful to Linda and the rest of the ABC Action News team! We were there from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m.
On Friday I worked during Practicum to finish up my Wellness TV package. The person who had the Wellness TV camera didn't get back to me until Friday at 9:15, right before my class started, and said she was too sick to bring the camera to me, I had to go get it from her. So, that's why I didn't get to start editing until practicum time. I managed to finish the entire package, but I wasn't really happy about being so rushed. At least I was able to make the deadline! I worked from 10:30 a.m. until 11:50 a.m.

WTV Show 7 Broll
This morning, Taylor Sullivan and I worked on shooting broll from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. We also shot the reporter stand up. We got a lot done, but we ran into a lot of problems. First of all, from the time we pulled the tripod out of the bag, it was messed up. One of the legs kept popping out of its little joint. By the time we were done, we couldn't even get the leg to stay in its joint, it would just pop off again. I don't know if the person who had it before us was a little too rough with it or what, but it's really disappointing because the tripod is brand new and it's already messed up. Before I brought the camera to her, I called Michelle and told her about the problem. She told me she had an extra tripod for the anchor shoot but she would take a look at it it see if she could fix it. Michelle is too good for words. The second problem was the the morning manager for the book store wouldn't let us shoot inside, despite the fact that we had just shot in there last semester. It was in the afternoon last time, and the afternoon manager had had no problem. So we had to go to tu tu's and shoot people swiping their cards, as if anyone would use a credit card to buy a coffee and a muffin. I'm going to ABC Action News this afternoon, and I don't know if I will be back in time to finish up this package, but Michelle said that as long as the package was done by 3:00 tomorrow, she didn't care when I worked on it. Thank the Lord for Michelle.

WTV Show 7 Script
Today I wrote my script for the credit score package and sent it to Dr. B. I worked from 10:45 until 11: 50 a.m. My package as it stands is a little long.. about 2:15. But I think I can cut it a little bit. We haven't shot any broll yet because today is too crazy for me and Taylor didn't really feel comfortable doing it by herself, so we're going tomorrow at 9 a.m. bright and early. It feels a little last minute for me, but if our script is approved, we can edit it exactly like the script says and it shouldn't take very long to finish everything up. Hopefully. :)

Wellness TV Expert and Student Interviews
Yesterday, Taylor Sullivan and I interviewed Dr. Clements for our package about credit scores. Dr. Clements had given me lots of resources to look over ahead of time, so I was well prepared for the interview. It went very well! We interviewed her from 3:30 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Then we went to the Southern Office, we found Dr. Bradford and Michelle creating some new lower thirds for the Wellness TV show. I made sure Taylor had plenty of room to see while I watched from a far, because she told me that she wanted to learn more about editing. Then we logged our interview from Clements into the computer. I made sure to set the settings at HDV 1080i 60. That took place from 4:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Then at 4:30, I attended the Wellness TV meeting. We talked about our progress on this show and ideas for the next show. The meeting lasted until 5:00 p.m. Today, Taylor and I met at 9:00 a.m. to shoot student interviews. We interviewed two students, a Freshman boy and a Junior girl. Neither of them knew much about credit scores. Then we logged the footage into the computer. I let Taylor do it this time all by herself, and she only needed to be reminded about a couple of things. We worked from 9:00 until 9:30 a.m.

Wellness TV Second Semester
On Monday I attended the Wellness TV meeting from 4:30 p.m. until 5:17 p.m. I have been assigned a financial wellness package about credit scores. Dr. Bradford talked to us about writing scripts for our packages and how to produce quality work. Tomorrow I am going to get student interviews and I have an interview with Dr. Clements on Monday.
