ABC Action News and Finishing Show 7

On Thursday, I had the opportunity to shadow Lind Hurtado at ABC Action News. Maggie Ross went with me too. We were given a tour of the entire studio. She showed us where the reporters received their assignments for the day, all of the different control rooms including the main control room with the switcher, and of course the actual studio. During the news cast, little Maggie and I both got a chance to direct the meteorologist. The floor manager showed us the different hand signals for 1 minute, 30 seconds and 15 seconds. We each took turns during the separate weather forecasts in front of the green screen standing by the camera. We were instructed to watch the teleprompter instead of his face so as not to distract him. When the floor manager told us to, we gave the meteorologist the cues right above the camera so he could see them. This let him know how much time he had left to complete the newscast. It was an awesome experience and I am so grateful to Linda and the rest of the ABC Action News team! We were there from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m.
On Friday I worked during Practicum to finish up my Wellness TV package. The person who had the Wellness TV camera didn't get back to me until Friday at 9:15, right before my class started, and said she was too sick to bring the camera to me, I had to go get it from her. So, that's why I didn't get to start editing until practicum time. I managed to finish the entire package, but I wasn't really happy about being so rushed. At least I was able to make the deadline! I worked from 10:30 a.m. until 11:50 a.m.

Total hours to this date: 6 hours and 55 minutes
