Yesterday, I wrote the broadcast script and cut out sound bytes for my package from 1:10 until 2:30 p.m. Today I edited my entire package from 1:30 until 2:30 p.m. I am much happier with this package than I was with my last package, and I am very proud of my work! I know now that is much better to shoot all of your video early, rather than trying to do it all at the last second.

Show 8 Student Interviews
Today I worked for Wellness TV from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Taylor Sullivan worked with me. Kristin McKay told Taylor that she would come, but she never showed up. We shot two student interviews in the caf, as well as a reporter stand up in front of Edge. Taylor had to go to class at 9:55, but I let her set up the log and transfer before she had to go. During the interviews we switched our usual places: Taylor manned the camera and I asked the interview questions. All of our footage has been shot, we just need to shoot voice overs, write the script, and edit!

Show 8 Interview
On Friday, I interviewed Brenna Haley from the Study Abroad office for Wellness TV. The interview went well and Brenna was able to answer all of our questions. Taylor Sullivan went with me. We also shot some broll of the flyers, posters and maps in the office. We worked from 4:00 until 5:00 p.m. I left the camera with her over the weekend while I was out of town, and while the camera was with her she shot some broll all on her own. I would like to do some student interviews tomorrow after the Wellness TV meeting, and then be ready to write my script and have it all done and edited by Thursday.

Wellness TV Meeting: Show 8
On Monday I attended the Wellness TV meeting from 4:30 until 5:00 p.m. I will be doing a package on the junior journey, which I'm kind of excited for. The topic is something that I really can wrap my head around, while credit scores still kind of confuse me. With this topic I can really be an informative reporter! I have already email Ms. Baine and am looking forward to hearing back from her!

ABC Action News and Finishing Show 7
On Thursday, I had the opportunity to shadow Lind Hurtado at ABC Action News. Maggie Ross went with me too. We were given a tour of the entire studio. She showed us where the reporters received their assignments for the day, all of the different control rooms including the main control room with the switcher, and of course the actual studio. During the news cast, little Maggie and I both got a chance to direct the meteorologist. The floor manager showed us the different hand signals for 1 minute, 30 seconds and 15 seconds. We each took turns during the separate weather forecasts in front of the green screen standing by the camera. We were instructed to watch the teleprompter instead of his face so as not to distract him. When the floor manager told us to, we gave the meteorologist the cues right above the camera so he could see them. This let him know how much time he had left to complete the newscast. It was an awesome experience and I am so grateful to Linda and the rest of the ABC Action News team! We were there from 4:30 until 6:00 p.m.
On Friday I worked during Practicum to finish up my Wellness TV package. The person who had the Wellness TV camera didn't get back to me until Friday at 9:15, right before my class started, and said she was too sick to bring the camera to me, I had to go get it from her. So, that's why I didn't get to start editing until practicum time. I managed to finish the entire package, but I wasn't really happy about being so rushed. At least I was able to make the deadline! I worked from 10:30 a.m. until 11:50 a.m.

WTV Show 7 Broll
This morning, Taylor Sullivan and I worked on shooting broll from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. We also shot the reporter stand up. We got a lot done, but we ran into a lot of problems. First of all, from the time we pulled the tripod out of the bag, it was messed up. One of the legs kept popping out of its little joint. By the time we were done, we couldn't even get the leg to stay in its joint, it would just pop off again. I don't know if the person who had it before us was a little too rough with it or what, but it's really disappointing because the tripod is brand new and it's already messed up. Before I brought the camera to her, I called Michelle and told her about the problem. She told me she had an extra tripod for the anchor shoot but she would take a look at it it see if she could fix it. Michelle is too good for words. The second problem was the the morning manager for the book store wouldn't let us shoot inside, despite the fact that we had just shot in there last semester. It was in the afternoon last time, and the afternoon manager had had no problem. So we had to go to tu tu's and shoot people swiping their cards, as if anyone would use a credit card to buy a coffee and a muffin. I'm going to ABC Action News this afternoon, and I don't know if I will be back in time to finish up this package, but Michelle said that as long as the package was done by 3:00 tomorrow, she didn't care when I worked on it. Thank the Lord for Michelle.

WTV Show 7 Script
Today I wrote my script for the credit score package and sent it to Dr. B. I worked from 10:45 until 11: 50 a.m. My package as it stands is a little long.. about 2:15. But I think I can cut it a little bit. We haven't shot any broll yet because today is too crazy for me and Taylor didn't really feel comfortable doing it by herself, so we're going tomorrow at 9 a.m. bright and early. It feels a little last minute for me, but if our script is approved, we can edit it exactly like the script says and it shouldn't take very long to finish everything up. Hopefully. :)
